They aren’t looking for new challenges. They aren’t interested in new ways of doing things differently or better. They are no longer concerned about the competition or the customer. Like anyone who coasts, there is only one place for them to go – downhill. Keep alive, keep challenging yourself until the day you quit. When growth stops, decay begins.” (Johnson, Brad L. Bits and Pieces, Vol 1. 2013) This passage highlights the importance of good old fashioned hard work. Hard work can lead to new opportunities and an improved standard of living. Hard work helps us develop important traits such as discipline, resilience and self-confidence. It provides purpose and direction, which helps stabilize our mood. When we submerge ourselves in a difficult task, our brains release dopamine, the “pleasure chemical” related to satisfaction and happiness. In short, keep working hard. Your body and mind will thank you!
