From Military Service to Safety Leadership: Meet Brian Stewart

From Military Service to Safety Leadership: Meet Brian Stewart

Some careers are built over time through opportunity. Others are built through service, dedication, and a commitment to protecting others. Brian Stewart's story is a little of both.

Brian earned his Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 2010, but his foundation in safety began long before that. He proudly served more than 13 years in the U.S. Air Force as an Aircraft Fuel Systems Technician from October 1987 through November 2000. During his military career, Brian deployed in support of Desert Shield and Desert Storm and worked on an impressive range of aircraft including the B 1, B 52, KC 135, KC 10, A 10, F 111, F 15, F 16, F 22, F 35, C 141, C 130, C 5, C 17, and multiple helicopters. He also spent several years supporting the Department of Defense as both a contractor and civilian employee.

Since 2010, Brian has dedicated his career to protecting people in the oil and gas industry. His experience spans offshore subsea construction in the Gulf of America, the Eagle Ford Shale, and the Permian Basin, supporting drilling, hydraulic fracturing, production, site preparation, coil tubing, and snubbing operations. Today, Brian serves on Chevron's Global Plug and Abandonment HSE Team, bringing years of operational knowledge and leadership to every project.

Brian has been a valued member of the ISS family for more than five years, joining the team before the challenges of COVID and continuing to represent ISS with professionalism and integrity wherever his work takes him.

When Brian isn't in the field, his greatest source of pride is his family. He and his wife, Lori, recently celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary. In 2024, they built Southern Blooms by Lori, fulfilling Lori’s dream of owning her own flower shop. While Brian is away supporting clients, Lori keeps both the business and home running, and Brian is quick to give her the credit she deserves.

When asked about what matters most, Brian's answer is simple:

"She is my reason."

Thank you, Brian, for your years of military service, your unwavering commitment to safety, and the leadership you bring to ISS every day. We are proud to have you on the team.
